How time management can help with stress
Save time and Stress
In my last blog post, I listed some ways that we can reduce stress. In this blog, I wanted to touch on how time management specifically can help eliminate stress from your life. There is nothing worse than feeling overwhelmed and that you have too much to do with not enough time. To help with this, I have found that keeping a planner or calendar to plan my activities ahead has been beneficial.
I keep a planner for my school work and also note which days I am working, have appointments, or other events worth noting. I have a physical planner, but there are also good apps that can be used to organize your work and schedule. Keeping my homework in my planner motivates me to complete it. I feel as if writing your tasks down makes them seem less overwhelming, and it helps when you are able to check them off one by one. Knowing when I have a day coming up that is busier than usual, I can plan accordingly to avoid rushing around when the day comes. I also like to write things down ahead of time so I am fully prepared. For example, I like to write down all of my exam dates throughout the semester so that I'm never surprised when one is coming up.
Another thing that I've found helps me manage my time is by prioritizing my most difficult, or stressful tasks earlier in the day when I have the most energy. If I can get that out of the way quicker, it's one less thing that I have on my plate. I also like to save my less important tasks for later in the day, so if I do burn out or end up running out of time, it won't be a huge deal. For example, I like to do my homework before going to the gym so I can take my time at the gym once it's all done. On days where I spend extra time on homework, I can skip the gym and just go the next day.
